Dolphins' Quarterback Establishes The Funny Bagels' Jay Fiedler
Quarterback Challenge To Support The Groundbreaking Efforts
Of The Reach For The Stars Foundation.
November
20, 2001,
Miami, FL -Tuesday,
November 20th, 2001, Jay Fiedler and Funny Bagels, Inc. held
a press conference at the weekly "Touchdown Club Luncheon"
at Shula's 2 Restaurant, in Miami Lakes. Fiedler and Funny
Bagels, Inc. launched the Funny Bagels' Jay Fiedler Quarterback
Challenge supporting The Reach for the Stars Foundation to
Benefit Individuals with Cystic Fibrosis. This new program
has been developed for the Miami Dolphins' 2001 season and
is expected to make a significant contribution towards the
groundbreaking activities of the newly established Reach for
the Stars Foundation.
Jay
Fiedler, a Chairman of the Foundation, personally committed
to donate thousands of dollars throughout the Dolphins' season
for touchdowns, wins and playoff appearances. Fiedler's commitment
to help battle cystic fibrosis is due to his close relationship
with Ellie Levy, 10, who is afflicted with this disease. Ellie
is the daughter of longtime friend and agent, Brian Levy and
his wife Stacey-President and CEO of the Foundation. Teammates
Deon Dyer, Vaughn Sanders, Arturo Freeman & Adewale Ogunleye
were in attendance to support the efforts of The Reach for
the Stars Foundation and Jay Fiedler.
The
mission of The Reach for the Stars Foundation is to attack
this disease from three directions. First, the Foundation
will provide assistance to individuals with CF in need of
costly medicines, machinery, physical therapies and/or homecare
assistance in order to increase the lifespan and quality of
life of these individuals. Second, it will make available
funding initially to local hospitals to address "quality-of-life"
issues for those individuals who must spend long periods of
time in the hospital. And finally, it will provide funding
for cutting-edge research programs in an effort to help treat
and cure children afflicted with this terminal disease.
