Fiedler Gives Back To Cystic Fibrosis Charity
February
15, 2002, ,
Miami Shores, FL -
A day after Jay Fiedler signed a lucrative, long-term deal,
he gave back to his favorite cause.
Fiedler,
who signed a five-year, $24.5 million contract Wednesday to
remain quaterback of the Dolphins, spent Thursday morning
wth teammates Arturo Freeman and Adewale Ogunleye at Miami
Country Day school in Miami Shores for a fund-raiser for the
Reach for the Stars Foundation to Benefit Individuals with
Cystic Fibrosis. (Fiedler is a founding chairman) in honor
of Miami Country Day student and cystic fibrosis patient Ellie
Levy, the Daughter of Fiedler's agent, Brian Levy.
Reach
for the Stars helps families, works with local hospitals on
quality of care, and funds research.
"The
kids don't know how big a help they are, raising money for
a good cause," Freeman said.
Every
child raising $50 got to take a photo with the Dolphin Trio;
every one raising $100 got that photo autographed.
The
goal was to raise $25,000 and by Thursday evening, the lower
school's total alone exceeded that. So Miami Country Day will
host another event next week - which Fiedler will attend -
in which teachers and students will dye their hair in celebration.------
